This three day strategic planning session is designed to “Start the Conversation” on mental health issues in the workplace. Participants will be presented with the issues and barriers facing members and Locals when dealing with mental health in the workplace. We will discuss the stigmas, barriers and have participants develop solutions to support good mental health within the workplace. What should the Local Union do? What can the Joint Health and Safety Committee do? What safety issues can we raise?
Employers have to ensure that measures and procedures are in place to ensure the safety of workers. Mental Health at times can be invisible in the workplace. What should a Local’s response be to mental health? Are there supports in place? How does it affect the workplace? How do violence and harassment effect mental health.
Participants will have an opportunity to discuss their experiences as well as receive information from presenters on the topics. Participants will be provided with information to develop and share an action plan to promote and support mental health in the workplace.
In response to the health concerns of our members and staff, CUPE has implemented a Scent-Free Policy at all of our workshops. Scented products such as hair spray, perfume and deodorant can trigger reactions such as respiratory distress and headaches. Facilitators and participants are asked to refrain from using scented products while attending our workshops and meetings. Thank you for your cooperation.
