KAWARTHA LAKES, Ont. Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario President Sid Ryan will lead a solidarity rally for municipal workers with the City of Kawartha Lakes at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 16th at Victoria Park in Lindsay.
Its blatantly unfair that workers in the City of Kawartha Lakes are paid much less than their counterparts in neighbouring municipalities, said Sid Ryan. Its high time councillors and management started treating their workers with respect, starting with fair wages and benefits.

Ryan will join CUPE 855 members and their supporters to raise awareness of the workers outstanding bargaining issues. The workers are fighting for wage parity with neighbouring municipalities. Benefits are also unresolved. The 214 inside and 182 outside workers will be in a legal strike position on April 23rd, at 12:01 a.m. Mediation talks are scheduled for April 20th.
