Quebec City - Thousands of CUPE members from across Canada will attend their national bi-annual convention from Monday, October 27 to Friday, October 31 and set the unions agenda for the next two years.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees, the countrys largest union with 535,000 members, will debate a new strategic direction to resist employer demands for concessions and fight against privatization of public services. CUPE members will also elect a new leader, since National President Judy Darcy is stepping down after 12 years.
