CUPE Quebec represents 25,000 municipal workers in Quebec (70% of all municipal workers). CUPE Quebec is beginning phase 2 of its mobilization campaign calling on the Bouchard government to withdraw Bills 124, 134 and 137. These Bills have been tabled under the pretext of municipal re-organization - but in reality the proposed Bills will suspend the right to free collective bargaining, deny the workers their right to representation, and eliminate the right to negotiate and/or strike.
The following people will intervene during this live broadcast:
- Henri Masse - President of the Quebec Federation of Labour (QFL)
- Judy Darcy - National President of CUPE
- Claude Genereux - President of CUPE Quebec
- Pierre Dupuis - Regional Director of CUPE Quebec
- Jean Lachance - President of the outside workers of Quebec
- Claude Hetu - Assistant Director of CUPE for municipal affairs
- Jean Lapierre - President of the outside workers of Montreal
- Daniel Papillon-Demers - President of the inside workers of Montreal
