Help stop one of the largest deportations in Canadian history!
CUPE members are encouraged to support the many migrant workers who are facing deportation because of a new unjust law popularly referred to as the “4 & 4 law”.
Thousands of low-waged temporary foreign workers who have worked in Canada for more than four years, including migrants employed under the Live-In Caregiver Program, will be forced to leave. Tens of thousands of migrants will lose their jobs.

The demands of the campaign are:
- An end to the 4 & 4 rule so migrant workers can continue to work here
- Grant migrant workers in Canada permanent residency
- Ensure migrant worker access to all social benefits and entitlements
- Enact legislation to grant permanent residency for all migrants upon arrival
CUPE National endorses “No 4 and 4 Campaign”. The campaign was launched by the Migrant Alliance for Changes, a coalition of dozens of migrant justice groups across Canada.
