CUPE National Representative Ed White says, “We were pleased to see DC pension concession taken off the table under one option of the Town's proposal. However, the wage offer is not sufficient for our members to‎ accept. We have been locked out for nearly three weeks which equates to a loss of 6% in wages for these employees.

“Our members continue to provide some services to the community. We are doing snow-clearing, thawing of water pipes and responding to sewer issues. These services are provided through the Letter of Intent that we continue to honor. Our members are also responding to fires.‎

“We hope that continued pressure from residents will result in Council‎ tabling an improved offer,” says White.
