CUPE Saskatchewan was proud to take part in Back to Batoche Days, the largest outdoor Indigenous festival in Canada. Held annually at the Batoche National Historic Site, the festival brings thousands of people together to celebrate Métis culture, history, resilience, and community.
As a co-sponsor of the festival trolley, CUPE Saskatchewan helped people attending the festival travel across the grounds to enjoy the many activities and performances throughout the four-day event.
Members of CUPE Saskatchewan’s Indigenous Council, CUPE 5430 Region 2, and member ambassadors connected with festival attendees at the CUPE booth, handing out free ice water to help people stay cool and hydrated during the warm weather.
“Back to Batoche is an important celebration of Métis culture, history, and community,” said Kent Peterson, president of CUPE Saskatchewan. “We were honoured to be part of an event that brings people together from across Saskatchewan and all over the country, and we are proud to support opportunities that celebrate Métis history.”
