Sessional employees at Renison University College have successfully organized their workplace. A majority of sessional workers at Renison voted to join CUPE, joining more than 70,000 post-secondary instructors, administrators, and support staff as part of Canada’s largest union. Renison is an affiliated college of the University of Waterloo.
Academic workers at the University of Waterloo, including graduate teaching and research assistants, and sessional instructors recently negotiated their first collective agreement. CUPE also represents trades, custodial and foodservice workers at the university.
The incoming CUPE members are seeking better job security, improvements to wages, and access to benefits.
