For the first time, we have a consolidated national telephone plan. As the first step, we are upgrading the National telephone system to allow for additional lines and phones. Full capacity was reached sometime ago and we can no longer accommodate additional lines. After reviewing competitors quotations, we selected Telus Communications Inc. for the upgrade, and for the conversion of both long distance and local access lines. This will enable CUPE to realize substantial savings.
