Founded in 1992, NALD is funded by the federal governments National Literacy Secretariat. The websites powerful search engine makes it easy to find information on union literacy, or any other topic related to literacy in Canada. CUPE members from across Alberta are featured in a new video produced by the Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL). Workers from a number of unions tell their own stories on camera in the 15-minute video, just right for showing at local meetings. Cost: $10.00. AlphaPlus Centre Based in Toronto, this nonprofit organization helps literacy tutors, instructors, trainers, volunteers and researchers find the information they need to support the adult learners they work with. The focus is on deaf adult learners as well as people from Aboriginal, anglophone and francophone communities in Ontario. The website is bilingual and has an excellent search engine.
