One in three Canadians will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life. The earlier a problem is detected and treated, the better the outcome. Mental Health First Aid Canada gives people the skills to provide that early help that is so important in recovery.. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved., , The MHFA Canada program aims to improve mental health literacy, and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague, The program does not teach people how to be therapists. It does teach people how to: recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems and provide initial help.

Two 3-hour workshops to help CUPE members explore what's going on in Palestine and take action in solidarity!

- Are you a CUPE member who wants to learn more about Palestine, its recent history and the situation today of Palestinian workers and their communities?
- Want to connect and organize with Palestinian solidarity campaigns?
- Register today for two new workshops to learn more and take action!

CUPE has a long, proud history of standing in solidarity with Palestinian workers, their families, and communities. For over 20 years, CUPE has been supporting labour, peace, and justice efforts in Palestine, working in partnership with local workers and their unions. Today, acting in solidarity with Palestinians have never been more urgent.

We have two new workshops you can take.

Workshop 1: Solidarity with workers in Palestine - Part 1: Getting Informed
The first workshop covers the essential background of Palestinian history, politic, and the situation today. Participants will discuss labour conditions for Palestinians, the reality of settler colonialism, and the apartheid nature of the Israeli state. The workshop also includes a special focus on the power of stories and narratives and how they shape our understanding of "the conflict in the Middle East".

Please note: Part 1 is a pre-requisite for Part 2.

Workshop 2: Solidarity with workers in Palestine - Part 2: Getting Organized
The second workshop is all about acting in solidarity. Participants explore three major obstacles to solidarity with Palestinians, including the distorted weaponization of antisemitism, anti-Palestinian racism and people who are "PEP" - progressive except for Palestine. Learners will discuss ongoing solidarity campaigns and the effort to end all trade, including trade in weapons, with the Israeli government. Participants will also examine tools and resources to help them organize in their locals, workplaces, and communities.
