The fee for this course is $20 for affiliated and $40 for non-affiliated and $50 to hold your spot, for a total of $70 for affiliated and $90 for non-affiliated. Please make the cheque payable to Sault Ste Marie District CUPE Council. Cheque must be received 2 weeks prior to the course, not later than March 19. If the member attends the workshop, then $50 will be reimbursed to the Local. If the member does not attend the workshop, no reimbursement will be made.

What does a CUPE steward do? If you are a new steward and want to learn how to help CUPE members solve workplace problems, this introductory workshop is for you! In this workshop, you will learn: • investigating workplace problems; • filing a grievance; • meeting with management; • dealing with workplace complaints. NOTE: Please bring a copy of your collective agreement to the workshop.
Pre-requisites: Introduction to Stewarding

Learning new computer programs, understanding collective agreements, completing forms, or writing reports can all pose barriers for our members. Learn about how stewards can increase literacy awareness, and help make the union inclusive and accessible to members.
