(Ottawa) - The impending closure of Ottawa Valley Autistic Homes (OVAH) is the subject of a community rally on Monday morning outside the constituency office of Conservative MPP John Baird.

OVAH is slated for closure this fall, with no plan in place to continue the care and special housing needs of our residents, says Dan Pike, president of CUPE Local 2862, representing 80 behavioural counselors and therapists at the agency. We want to stay on the job and continue providing care and support to the residents of OVAH, but the government seems not to care what happens to this vulnerable community of people. Our rally on Monday will send a clear message: dismantling OVAH puts these residents at risk.
