This dispute is not about wages. All the employees want is to maintain their collective bargaining rights, their medical plan, and a show of respect from the employer.
The employees refused the Town’s final offer because it attacks provisions in the contract that are there to protect jobs — and the public services we all need.
It threatens casuals and seasonal workers and the medical plan that the employees pay for.
It takes away the employees’ right to arbitration when it comes to job description articles, and lays out separate conditions for new hires.
This backwards bargaining hurts the employees and will impact the services they provide to the town.
Please write the Mayor and Councilors today and ask them to return to the bargaining table with a fair proposal for the workers.
