The home care system in Ontario has been in a crisis since the mid 1990s when the Harris PC government established a system of compulsory contracting out of home care, forcing the government to reform the system many times. The latest reform proposed by Ford’s Progressive Conservative government, Bill 135, Convenient Care at Home Act, perpetuates the fundamental problems in the sector and creates more uncertainty for home care workers. CUPE and community health care advocates have long called for an integrated and fully public system where everyone has fair wages and decent working conditions. This initiative is one step in achieving that goal.

Home and Community Care Support Service workers deserve fair wages and equitable working conditions. Please write your MPP, Premier Doug Ford, President of the Ontario Treasury Board Caroline Mulroney, and Ontario Health President and CEO Matthew Anderson to save home care services in Ontario!
