The board of directors of a Qub0065c City area health and social services centre was expected to make an announcement this week on whether its new long-term care home will be a P3.

CUPE Qub0065c had obtained a copy of a board-commissioned report that showed it would cost 34 per cent more to build the new Rs0069dence Saint-Charles as a P3 than it would to build it publicly.

But the P3-happy Charest government has been putting enormous pressure on public sector administrators to do any new construction using P3 models.

Local 3763 president Andr 0042enoit says the new centre should be built publicly.

For the last ten years politicians have been passing through here, one after the other - typically during an election campaign to announce a new centre, Benoit said. Thats enough. Its time to think of the patients.

The study is done, the conclusion is clear. Build the Saint-Charles centre using public financing. Period, he said.
