Yesterday Mayor Randy Simms made an overture to CUPE Local 2099 through the media which has resulted in the conciliator asking the parties back to the bargaining table.

Bob Martin, President of CUPE Local 2099, says “We are cautiously optimistic that this will result in a collective agreement.  Our members are holding out hope that this round of bargaining will result in a deal which is fair and reasonable for them.”

The members of CUPE Local 2099 were locked out by the City of Mount Pearl on September 30, 2014.  They have been maintaining picket lines at City facilities.

Wages are the main outstanding issue. The 140 members of CUPE Local 2099 are inside and outside workers with the City of Mount Pearl.
