Carmen Prefontaine (she/her) was elected as CUPE MB General Vice President in May 2024 and was elected to CUPE’s National Executive Board as Regional Vice-President for Manitoba in July 2024. She is a proud member and First Vice President of CUPE 500, and works for the City of Winnipeg, supporting the Employee Safety, Health, and Wellness Division.
 
Carmen is a lifelong political activist, having volunteered on countless political campaigns for labour-friendly candidates at all three levels of government.  She is active on the Executive Board of the Winnipeg Labour Council and on many committees within the labour movement. She is also an active CUPE member facilitator, engaging with and helping to mentor future union leaders.
