Your Bargaining Committee met with Air Canada for 4 days March 29 004100700072il 1, 1999. This week of bargaining did not produce a settlement.

At the Company’s request, we have agreed to meet again the week of April 19, 1999 to continue face to face bargaining in an attempt to reach a settlement.

Pension has been identified by the membership as a bargaining priority. Your Union is committed to achieving improvements in pension in this round of negotiations. In order to assist us, the Company and the Union have agreed to bring in our pension experts (including CUPE’s and Air Canada’s actuaries) so that we may explore all options to provide a livable income after retirement in this contract.

In order to prepare for all eventualities resulting from this week of bargaining, we will be conducting meetings at all bases in order to update the membership beginning the week of April 26, 1999. We will be notifying the membership of the specific locations once the schedule is confirmed.
