New Brunswicks 65 court stenographers have been on strike since September 25. They are leading the struggle to achieve wage equity in the NB justice system. But so far the government has refused to give them a wage adjustment.

The women workers are paid thousands of dollars less than others in the system to do more responsible work. Judges, lawyers, police and the media have all publicly urged the government to treat them fairly.

CUPE Local 1840 members remain strong in their resolve to win the strike, but they need help. Please adopt a striker. It takes $100 a week to top up their strike pay and support a struggle that has implications for all workers.

Contact Ed Grenier, CUPE representative, Bathurst CUPE Office, Suite 202, 1300 St. Peter Ave., Bathurst, NB E2A 3A6. Phone: (506) 458-8815 or 545-5190 (cell). Fax: (506) 546-8084.
