The 860 members of CUPE Local 1480 will enter mediation talks with the Limestone District School Board near Kingston, Ontario, in a final effort to reach an agreement before a January 20th legal strike deadline.

Outstanding issues include job security, wages, benefits, and working conditions. Mediation talks took place January 19th – 20th. The school board workers have been without a contract since August 31, 2004.

CUPE Local 1480 represents workers employed as educational assistants, secretarial, office and technical, maintenance and custodial, and other non-teaching positions.
