NEWMARKET, Ont. — Members of CUPE 2040 at Southlake Residential Care Village have overwhelmingly ratified a new collective agreement.

We are pleased to have reached a mutual agreement without concessions,” said Sandy Faulds, local president. The union represents 82 full-time and 71 part-time workers in nursing, dietary, housekeeping and clerical positions who yesterday (September 7) voted 99% in favour of the contract.

The agreement, which runs from April 1, 2004 to December 31, 2006, includes a 7.2% wage increase, benefit improvements and new language on harassment and violence.
