THUNDER BAY Sid Ryan, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario Division, will join a solidarity picket at eleven oclock tomorrow morning with members of CUPE Local 3253 who have been on strike since June 26.

The 36 workers at North of Superior Programs offer mental health, addiction counselling and integrated services for children in communities all along the north shore of Lake Superior, from Nipigon to Manitouwadge, including Geraldton, Longlac and Nakina.

The solidarity picket will follow a 10:00 a.m. meeting between Ryan, leaders of CUPE Local 3253 and the executive assistant to Michael Gravelle, MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Labour. Ryan will report at the picket line on the meeting, which will be aimed at finding a solution to the funding problems that the agency claims are forcing it to offer absolutely nothing in wage increases to its employees.
