Public Health Nurses in the Region of Peel, members of CUPE 966 have reached a tentative agreement with the region’s health unit.
“It took some hard bargaining and a very strong strike vote to get the Region to agree to a fair collective agreement,” said Mary Jo Falle, president of CUPE Local 966.
“The services our public health nurses provide to the community are crucial to the health and well-being of our families. The last thing the nurses wanted to do was remove those services from the clients they serve. We’re very pleased that the Region didn’t force them out the door and realized the jeopardy it would put the community in if we couldn’t come to a good new contract.”
Details will not be released unit both sides ratify the tentative deal. The date of CUPE Local 966 ratification vote will be announced shortly.
