PARRY SOUND, Ont. — More than 100 workers at Belvedere Heights Home for the Aged voted overwhelmingly last week to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

The workers chose CUPE over the Canadian Health Care Workers Union, which had represented them in the past, in a vote held October 12.

CUPE is Canada’s largest union, with 550,000 members coast to coast. In Ontario, more than 18,000 long-term care workers in municipal, charitable and private facilities
