CUPE’s launching a survey that will help build a stronger, more inclusive CUPE– and every local has a leadership role to play.

The national survey will help create an accurate profile of our members, with a focus on our diversity and the changing nature of our work. We need this information to build a stronger, more representative union. Understanding who our members are helps us build more  effective campaigns and bargaining strategies, as we fight for equality rights and good jobs.

This project’s success depends on CUPE locals getting involved. CUPE’s polling company can only get reliable results if they start with the right information.

We’re asking CUPE locals – large and small, and across regions and sectors - to send us the names and phone numbers of all their members. We’ll only share this information with the polling firm, and it will only be used for the survey.

To get solid data, the polling firm needs to randomly sample from a large pool of member contacts. The survey results are anonymous, protecting individual members’ privacy. A letter has gone to every CUPE local president, and CUPE staff will be following up to answer any questions.

Ask us your questions – and send us your lists – by getting in touch with the survey coordinator at cupesurvey@cupe.ca. Together, we can deepen the connections with our members and renew our union.
