Members of CUPE 3448 continue their strike action against Vaughan Public Library. On strike since March 6, the 95 library workers are fighting major concessions in bargaining.
The employer wants to drastically reduce vacation time, sick leave and emergency leave. As well, the library board wants its employees to work more evenings and more Saturdays and Sundays.
But library workers are taking a stand on this issue because they’re not prepared to sacrifice their family lives for the sake of what the administration views as “efficiencies.”
Some things are more important than the bottom line.
