HALIFAX – Inside workers with Halifax Water have joined with their outside worker counterparts in giving CUPE a strong strike mandate.

CUPE National Representative Naomi Stewart says, “In a strong show of solidarity, the members of Local 1431 have voted more than 90% in favour of job action to back their Bargaining Committee.” “Of the 107 total members of the local, 90 came out to vote, and 85 of those said yes,” says Stewart.

CUPE says the major outstanding issues include wages and maintaining their existing pension provisions.
