VANCOUVERCUPE B.C. is concerned about yesterdays Labour Relations Board decision to restrict the picketing of SkyTrain workers, said CUPE B.C. President Barry O’Neill.

The LRB has ordered OPEIU members, on strike since April 1, to remove pickets allowing SkyTrain to run again today. OPEIU is restricted to picketing SkyTrain fare boxes.

The right to pressure your employer by shutting down their operations is fundamental in a strike, O’Neill said. CUPE supports the right of OPEIU security guards to picket fare boxes.

TransLink needs to get back to the bargaining table and negotiate an agreement that is fair for transit workers who are security guards on the SkyTrain system, ONeill said. They play a vital role in providing a safe and secure transit system and are entitled to a fair agreement.
