WAINWRIGHT - Striking support staff at Buffalo Trail school division have voted 98% to accept a wage settlement of 9.62% over three years. The vote ends a seven-day-old strike.

CUPE Local 1606 President Margaret Templeton said she is pleased that the strike is over, and that the employees received the wage increase they were looking for. “We said all along that we were not looking for millions of dollars - just enough to keep up with the cost of living,” said Templeton.

Templeton said that the strike was worth it. “Walking a picket line is always a last resort, but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself,” said Templeton. “Without the walkout, we would never have gotten the attention of the trustees.”
