VICTORIA—The Canadian Union of Public Employees will raise questions about privatizing sewage treatment at the CRD Core Area Liquid Waste Management Committee’s (CALWMC) meeting.
At its last scheduled meeting of the year, Wednesday November 28, the CALWMC will hear from CUPE regarding the CRD’s contract with Ernst and Young Orenda Corporate Finance Inc.

The Capital Regional District hired Ernst and Young to prepare a financial analysis of the sewage treatment project, including potential private sector involvement. Ernst and Young has a long track record of promoting public-private partnerships or P3s.

CUPE will make a presentation to CALWMC and will identify questions and concerns for the committee as it reviews the work of Ernst and Young.
