TORONTO Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario Division Secretary-Treasurer Brian OKeefe will speak at a Queens Park rally this morning protesting the closure of the obstetrics and pediatrics’ unit at Georgetowns hospital.

The hospital is part of the William Osler Health Centre, with other locations in Brampton and Etobicoke. The Brampton site will be home to a new hospital built as a public-private partnership (P3).

As the costs of that P3 project continue to rise, we fear William Osler is deciding to make cuts in the other communities it serves, says OKeefe. Workers at the Georgetown hospital are members of CUPE Local 145.
