TORONTO – Negotiators for Local 3902 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 3902) have reached a tentative agreement with the University of Toronto.

The tentative agreement would, if accepted by the membership, cover 6,000 graduate and undergraduate teaching staff, members of CUPE 3902, Unit 1, who have been on strike since February 27 in an effort to secure improvements to poverty-level funding and precarious working conditions.

Members of CUPE 3902-1 will hold a special meeting Friday, to decide whether to send the tentative agreement to a ratification vote by the full membership of Unit 1.

Accordingly, CUPE 3902 will make no further comment regarding the tentative agreement until members have had an opportunity to review and vote on it.
