On November 29, the management of the Société des alcools (SAQ) and the union representing the 800 warehouse and delivery employees announced a tentative agreement to renew the collective agreement. It was later presented at a general meeting where 86 per cent of employees voted against it.
“We suspended strike action to give negotiations one last chance. We reached an agreement, which was rejected by the membership. We will meet tomorrow morning with the union’s Executive Committee to determine what our next steps will be. Of course, we will be contacting the employer,” added Michel Gratton, CUPE union representative.
Union representatives will not be giving any interviews until they have put together their action plan.
