CUPE members, staff and executives can now download CUPE’s most recent Employment Equity and Staffing Report. The report offers an update on CUPE’s ongoing efforts, as an employer, to reach its equity, diversity and inclusion goals.
The data show a steady increase in staff hired from the five equity groups noted in this report. CUPE also directed additional funding and staff to meet its employment equity objectives in the 2023 budget. That effort has clearly paid off, though more work remains.
CUPE’s National Joint Employment Equity Committee (JEEC), which includes representatives from the employer and the unions representing CUPE staff, is responsible for making recommendations towards establishing an accountable and effective employment equity plan. CUPE’s efforts and commitment on these important issues remains a priority.
