WINNIPEG, MB. – The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) delegates, here for their biennial national convention, are marching against poverty tomorrow as part of their ‘building strong communities’ campaign.
“We’re marching to demonstrate our resolve to reduce poverty and protect the public services that make our communities stronger and more equitable,” CUPE National President Paul Moist said.

- Hassan Yussuff, Secretary-Treasurer, Canadian Labour Congress, speaks on Wed., Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
- Jack Layton, Leader, New Democratic Party of Canada, speaks on Thurs., Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees represents more than 540,000 women and men. CUPE members work in health care, education, municipalities, social services, electrical utilities, airlines and other sectors.
