Oshawa Sid Ryan, the Ontario president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, will join health professionals from across Durham Region in their day of action tomorrow (Thursday, February 13) at the Lakeridge Hospital Oshawa site.

Ryan will be a guest speaker at a noon rally at the Oshawa hospital site in support of the 300 professionals who work at the five Lakeridge sites and who are highlighting severe staff shortages, and fighting for a fair collective agreement.

“Hospital workers across the province are feeling the brunt of the Eves’ government chronic underfunding for health care.

“In Ontario, we are losing nurses and other health care workers to the U.S. and other provinces paying better wages and offering lower workloads,” says Ryan.

The rally will take place at the Lakeridge Hospital, 1 Hospital Court, Oshawa, on Thursday, February 13, 2003, starting at 12 Noon.
