Workers at Kerry’s Place make sure people with autism in Dufferin and Peel lead full lives. Most of their clients have autism compounded by schizophrenia or bipolar disorders. This can make the clients challenging – sometimes even violent.
So why is Kerry’s Place sending in agency workers with no training, some of whom can’t even read Medication Administration Record Sheets (MARS) or follow the Support Plans of the individuals
Too many CUPE 5284 workers have been punched, bitten, had their hair pulled and concussed – all because Kerry’s Place would rather pay agency staff than invest in their own workforce.
These workers are some of the most abused but they earn, on average, $2-5 less than their counterparts.
