In the aftermath of the devastating explosion earlier this month in Beirut, CUPE has donated $25,000 to the Lebanese Red Cross. The explosion caused hundreds of deaths, thousands of injuries and has left hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
CUPE BC contributed $10,000 of the $25,000 donation.
“CUPE stands in solidarity with the Lebanese people and wishes to offer assistance and support to the population,” said National President Mark Hancock. “We are continuing to follow the evolution of the situation closely.”
