“Good riddance” was CUPE Ontario’s departing comment on the repeal of Bill 28, the anti-worker legislation introduced less than two weeks ago by the Ford government and rescinded following a historic pushback by education and their allies.
“This attack on workers’ rights, delivered under the guise of legislation, has been consigned to the dustbin of history. The repeal is happening thanks to the bravery and courageous efforts of Ontario education workers, the solidarity of workers everywhere, labour unions and labour organizations across the country, as well as parents and community allies,” said CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn.
“The brief and ignominious story of Bill 28 should be a lesson to governments across Canada: workers remain ready to rise up together in the face of injustice and fight for what is right.”
