Child and Family Services of Grand Erie was created to save costs and improve services. The opposite has happened.
While the Ministry has neglected to provide enough funds to harmonize the agencies, they’re happy spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on hotels, motels, and extra staff hours while children and youth live in unlicensed homes.
This is not the level of service we were promised. And letting go of workers or gapping positions with no replacement is only going to make matters worse as their cases get redistributed and each child or youth in need gets less time with a protection worker.
Child and Family Services of Grand Erie requested more money from the Ministry to cover amalgamation costs. So far the Ministry hasn’t even responded to the request.
