Women working in group homes across Saskatchewan are filing gender-based pay discrimination complaints on Friday with the Human Rights Commission. Although the group homes are funded by the Department of Social Services, group home workers are paid much less than government employees doing work of equal value. About 40 complaints will be filed with the Commission on Friday.
News conference participants: Participants include Judy Darcy, National President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and Joanne Mountney, a provincial co-ordinator of the “We’re Worth More Campaign,” as well as a group home worker .
