The Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de la Ville de Montréal (SCFP 301) has issued a strike notice, which will take effect on Monday, December 14, 2020.
“We’re still at the bargaining table. We’re still in mediation. The blue-collar workers are hoping to get a new contract that is fair and reflective of the work they produce day in and day out. Talks are continuing, but we want to apply some pressure to get things moving,” explained Luc Bisson, President of CUPE 301.
Last November 13, the blue-collar workers held a general meeting in their cars for the first time in their history. CUPE 301 announced that 97.2% of the members voted in favour of resorting to pressure tactics up to and including an unlimited general strike. A substantial number of members (2,846) exercised their voting rights.
“The mandate we received shows that we’re mobilized and determined!” added Luc Bisson.
The blue-collar workers have been without a contract since December 2017.
