“Call it what it is: a crisis,” says CUPE Newfoundland Labrador President Sherry Hillier to Minister John Haggie.

“CUPE represents several hundred licensed practical nurses, personal care attendants and paramedics across the province. Today we stand with the Registered Nurses Union of Newfoundland and Labrador (RNUNL), and other unions, demanding ‘immediate action’ from our provincial and federal governments to address the staffing shortage in health care.”

Hillier and CUPE members will attend an information picket and rally today at 12 p.m. at the Corner Brook Legion located at 7 West Street, at the Majestic Lawn.

“We stand together, fighting for public health care – for our members, for workers and for patients. The situation is untenable, and the staffing crisis must end before disaster strikes,” says Hillier.
