Welcome to CUPE’s 32nd biennial National Convention!

We are thrilled to welcome you to our National Convention in Toronto, that will shape our future for the next two years.

Toronto is on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Together, over the coming week, we will:

  • Debate policy resolutions and amendments from across the country;
  • Hear reports on the wide range of work our members, committees and leaders have done over the last two years;
  • Listen to inspiring speakers who can help shape our conversations;
  • Build a network of contacts within the labour movement across the country;
  • Discuss upcoming issues related to public services and government interference in union rights.

Community Intervention training

We all want to help make our union safer for all members. But when we see someone being harmed, oppressed or injured, it can sometimes be hard to know the best way to help. This training sessions will teach the skills you need to practice community intervention to offer support during or after an incident of harassment.

CUPE Ombuds program

CUPE is committed to creating a union that is inclusive, welcome and free from harassment, discrimination, and all types of bullying and intimidation.

During this National Convention, there is an ombuds team on-site to respond to concerns about behaviour that does not align with CUPE’s Code of Conduct.

CUPE ombudspeople have been trained to listen and help resolve conflicts, creating conditions that support delegates’ participation in any convention-related event.

When CUPE flight attendants stood up to Air Canada, they weren’t just fighting for fair pay — they were defending their right to strike.

Air Canada counted on the government to use Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code to shut it down. And it worked.

This law allows the government to step in, suspend the right to strike, and tip the scales in favour of powerful corporations — all behind closed doors, with no accountability.

It’s wrong. It’s unconstitutional. And if we don’t act, it could be used again — against anyone.

Add your name and demand that the government repeal Section 107.
