In July 2022, Simon Fraser University announced it would become a ‘Living Wage’ employer.

As of now, months later, SFU has not moved forward in making this promise a reality – leaving hundreds of campus support workers struggling to get by.

SFU workers deserve better!

  • They deserve equity: The SFU workers in urgent need of a living wage work are primarily racialized, immigrant women.
  • They deserve security: These workers are in contracted out services – such as custodial and maintenance – with poor working conditions, fewer benefits and the lowest wages on campus.
  • They deserve accountability: The SFU Board of Governors needs to take direct responsibility to fulfill its living wage commitment without delay.
