Workers at Sts. Peter and Paul Residence in Scarborough will hold an information picket at the home’s annual community BBQ tomorrow (Thursday, June 26) to protest shift and hour reductions that will hurt the quality and quantity of care provided to seniors.

Management at Sts. Peter and Paul has announced cuts to workers’ shifts that come into effect July 1.  The changes will leave a single worker to ensure that more than 20 residents who experience incontinence are diapered and dry before she ends her shift at 11 p.m.  Previously, two people did the job, which involves lifting residents.

The members of CUPE 4890 and their supporters will hold an information picket at the residence’s annual community BBQ starting at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26 at Sts. Peter and Paul Residence, 221 Milner Avenue, Toronto.
