About 300 people took part in a rally for child care outside a chamber of commerce meeting in Winnipeg today where Stephen Harper was speaking.

Harper’s speech was about his proposals to fight crime, but he said yesterday he’d be willing to call another election over his controversial “Choice in Child Care” plan, which would give parents of children under age six $100 per month per child before taxes.

The conservative government has cancelled federal-provincial agreements on child care that would have set up actual child care spaces and given people actual choices in child care.
