HEU members are going to start the day tomorrow fighting back against the plans health authorities and the Liberal government have to destroy our public health care system. As the Campbell Liberals reveal their cuts April 23, here’s how we are planning to make it into Fight Back Tuesday.

At 7:30 a.m. there will be a rally in front of the Sheraton Wall Centre, 1088 Burrard Street, across the street from St. Paul’s Hospital. The rally will last until 9:30 a.m., and everyone who is able should make it down to Fight Back.

Throughout the morning and early afternoon, as far as we are able and as quickly as we can, we will be responding with analysis of the cutback plans for each region and posting this information on our website. This will include information we receive that will be coming in from the regions from our members.

Stay tuned to the HEU website heu.org to get the latest information.

At 4:00 p.m., HEU will host a press conference to provide the public with our analysis of the day’s events. The conference will be at the Plaza 500 at 12th and Cambie, in the Granville A Room. “We encourage HEU members who are in the region to attend this press conference,” says Chris Allnutt, HEU secretary-business manager. “We are bringing in members from some of the most affected communities in B.C. and it’s important to have a contingent from this region as well.”

The government has said that next week MLAs are going to be in their constituencies. HEU members and other people in the community should take advantage of this and tell your government representative what they think of what the Liberals are doing to our Medicare system.
