WADENA CUPE school support workers in the Wadena School District voted unanimously to ratify the tentative agreement reached last week with the school board. The ratification vote was held this morning in Wadena.

No details of the agreement will be released until the school division board holds its ratification vote tomorrow.

Although we cant discuss the terms of the agreement, everybody is excited about returning to work on January 5, says CUPE 3078 vice-president Sheila Bindig.

The tentative contract was reached after the labour relations board ordered the employer to return to the negotiating table by December 22 and to cease and desist from bargaining in bad faith.

School support workers, members of CUPE 3087, began rotating job action on April 9 and a full-scale strike on August 25.

The strike, which has lasted more than four months, affects schools in Wadena, Kelvington, Lintlaw, Archerwill, Rose Valley, Quill Lake and the Quill Lake Hutterite Colony.
